This approach is evidence based and has proven efficacy but does require advanced training through mentoring, post professional education and ultimately certification. American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties OCS - Orthopedic Certified Specialists must successfully complete a rigorous certification process, including an examination through the National Board of Medical Examiners. Building on a broad base of professional education and experience, certified specialists have developed advanced knowledge and skills in orthopedic care including surgical, non surgical and sports injury. This certification is to promote the highest level of enhanced diagnostic skills and specialty care for individuals seeking physical therapy care. This further assists consumers and the health care community in identifying practitioners with advanced knowledge and skills in orthopedics. Only those who have passed this extensive exam process can designate themselves orthopedic clinical specialists and display the specialty emblem.

University of St. Augustine MTC - Manual Therapy Certified. The MTC certification is offered through the University of St. Augustine post professional advanced education program. This is a bio-mechanically based approach to assessment and treatment of musculoskeletal conditions through advanced techniques in soft tissue and joint mobilizations. This process was developed by Stanley V. Paris one of the founders and greatest influences of orthopedic manual physical therapy. Certification requires seven courses in advanced techniques and several years of training and practice culminating in passing a 3 day examination process entailing 20 examinations including; oral written and practical modules.

Maitland-Australian Physiotherapy Seminars COMT - Certified Orthopedic Manual Therapist. The Maitland approach is considered the cornerstone of modern day Orthopedic Manual Therapy treatment of both spinal and peripheral conditions and uses primarily the assessment and treatment of the patients signs and symptoms to develop an effective treatment plan. This approach is patient-centric, and respects the diagnosis with an understanding of the pathology. This process was developed by Geoff Maitland a renowned physiotherapist and founding influence on advanced orthopedic manual physical therapy. Certification requires six courses in advanced techniques and several years of training and practice culminating in the passing of a two day examination process entailing a 3 part 8 hour written examination and 1 hour practical and oral examination scrutinized by two expert reviewers.

Mulligan Concept CMP - Certified Mulligan Practitioner. The Mulligan Concept developed by Brian Mulligan is a unique manual therapy treatment approach. This technique entails application of skilled sustained accessory joint glides of spinal and extremity joints provide by a trained therapist while having the patient perform concurrent active pain free physiologic movements. This technique coined the unique acronym of MWM's manipulation with movement. Many of these techniques have variations and adaptations that eventually can be taught to patients with unique self MWM's and taping for adjunctive home participation. Certification requires 3 individual unique treatment based courses followed by a comprehensive written, practical and oral examination.

myopain seminars CMTPT/DN - Certified Myofascial Trigger Point Therapist/Dry Needling. Certification through Myopain Seminars denotes advanced training in the identification and treatment of myofascial trigger points, including safe and effective dry needling. Myopain has the most extensive training in dry needling with over 80 hours of training followed by an intensive oral written and practical examination process granting certification after passing examination. Myopain trained clinicians are skilled in anatomical localization, sterile technique and dosing parameters to relieve pain, reduce muscle tension, and improve movement. At NNPT dry needling is applied within a comprehensive manual therapy and exercise program.

Functional Fascia Therapeutics FFTp - Functional Fascia Therapeutics practitioner. Functional Fascia Therapeutics is a system utilizing a unique form of dry needling called FSN - Functional subcutaneous needling. This technique utilizes a proprietary needle and applicator to get directly into the superficial fascial tissue where the needle skillfully manipulated to elicit beneficial chemical changes in the tissue to reduce pain and improve mobility. This technique focuses on the 12 fascial lines the integrate throughout the musculoskeletal system and nervous system. Certification indicates advanced assessment of fascial restriction and targeted interventions to restore gliding, load transfer and efficient functional movement. There are only 60 certified practitioners in in the country at this time. NNPT is the only clinic in Florida offering this treatment. This approach compliments orthopedic manual therapy to resolve stubborn mobility limits and pain generators.

American Academy of Manipulative Therapy Cert. DN - Certified Dry Needling. Affiliation with the American Academy of Manipulative Therapy reflects post graduate training in dry needling, and manual therapy for the spine and extremities. Certification requires 55 hours of training with emphasis on electrical dry needling and pain protocols. These techniques compliment Myopains fascial trigger point needling and Functional Fascia Therapeutic fascial technique of functional subcutaneous needling. This unique combination of dry needling techniques is a diverse integrative eclectic approach that is unique to NNPT.

FMT FMT - Blades. Functional Movement Techniques - Blades. This is a form IASTM. This credential denotes competency in Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization. These tools help address adhesions, scar tissue and myofascial restrictions. Improving tissue mobility quality and functional mobility. At NNPT IASTM is combined with manual therapy and exercise to create durable functional change.

The Mckenzie Institue International Training in the McKenzie Method (MDT) provides a systematic approach to evaluating spinal and extremity disorders using repeated-movement testing and directional preference. MDT emphasizes patient education and self-management, helping reduce recurrence while improving long-term function. NNPT integrates MDT principles with manual therapy to address both symptom modulation and movement restoration.
